ARRA Cancer Education and Early Detection Program

ARRA Stimulus Funding

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides funding during the current economic crisis to save and create jobs.  The ARRA funding also calls for increased transparency and accountability to taxpayers.  At NORWESCAP accountability and transparency has always been the cornerstone of our service delivery model, providing services to over 35,000 low income individuals a year with an administrative cost of less than five cents.  NORWESCAP is pleased to report that we have received funding under the ARRA to expand services and provide new services to our community.

NORWESCAP designated part of the ARRA funding to increase outreach to individuals without health insurance or with limited health insurance to access cancer screening programs.

ARRA Cancer Education and Outreach

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Warren County.  Lung cancer, prostate cancer, female breast cancer, colorectal cancer
and skin cancer represent the majority of Warren County's cancer burden. Through the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (CEED) program in Warren County, NORWESCAP is committed to reducing the burden of cancer by educating the community about prevention, screening and the benefits of early detection.

Many individuals do not have health insurance or have limited access to obtain cancer screening programs such as mammograms.  Through the ARRA Cancer Education and Outreach program, free cancer screening is available to eligible Warren County residents.

NORWESCAP has allocated ARRA funding to employ one part time position to work with individuals that have limited access to health care.  The program also offers free educational programs anywhere in the county to any group interested in learning more about certain health topics.  Learn more about the CEED program.
