Touching all the Bases for Jobs and Food
Date of Event:

The Sussex County One Stops of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development are proud to participate with two superior organizations- the Sussex Sky Hawks and the NJ Herald- to conduct a Job Fair and Food Drive during the August 8th Game at the home of the Sky Hawks. The Job Fair, which will run from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, will take place inside the stadium during game time. Job Seekers with some form of documentation of unemployment and those seeking a new or changing career will be allowed into the park during game time to meet with at least 50 companies, non-profits, faith-based organizations, and even craft unions. Prospective Job Seekers may wish to visit one of our two One Stops in either Franklin and/or Newton to pre-register for this event, but should bring to the Park 50 or more resumes, and should dress in business casual attire that is comfortable and clean. Participating Employers will set up inside the stadium, prior to the 6:00PM start of the Fair, and the game. They will be provided with a table with the proviso that participant companies or agencies limit the amount of staff members to a reasonable number. The New Jersey Herald, for its part, will supply creative advertising that will promote this unique event, and will work in tandem with the other two entities the Sky Hawks and One Stops of the County to make sure that all customers –Job Seekers and Prospective Employers are satisfied. In this venture, we are, in essence, “touching all the bases.” Those financially able are asked to bring a can of food or some non-perishable food item for those in need. NORWESCAP will supply a van and a table to collect any food that is brought to the park. For further information on this event or to RSVP as a Job Seeker or Prospective Employer, please feel free to call Bill Weightman, the One Stop Administrator of the One Stops in Sussex and Warren County at 973-209-1217 or via his email at William.Weightman@dol.state.nj.us. Staff members in Franklin at the above number and Newton at 973-383-2775 are willing to help on information as well.
