Weatherization Assistance Program

Weatherization Assistance

Provides energy conservation assistance to income eligible households who reside in Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren or Sussex counties. The program is designed to assist elderly, handicapped, and low-income persons in weatherizing their homes and conserving energy. A computerized energy audit will be conducted to determine the efficiency of the home. The level of service is influenced by the energy audit and funding parameters.

Energy Audits show:

Where heat loss occurs and energy is wasted;

What you can do to improve your home’s energy efficiency through energy conservation measures; When the energy savings steps you take will pay for themselves.

  • Air Sealing
  • Insulation (attic and sidewall)
  • Insulation of H/W pipes
  • Repairs/replacement of the heating system

Other energy conservation tactics may be available depending on the funding at that particular time and the condition of the residence. When a tenant applies for the Weatherization Assistance Program, the landlord of the residence will be responsible for 50% of the total cost of the energy tactics.
