“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is thus shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope”…………..Robert F. Kennedy

The 2006 NORWESCAP Annual Report that featured the above quote from Robert F. Kennedy reminds us that any one person can indeed make a change. It is our belief at NORWESCAP serving clients and the community for 41 years that we can indeed help to facilitate change.

In 2006 we added many new programs that help to meet our mission.
FIGHTING POVERTY
Committing our resources
to overcome the sources
and symptoms.

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES
Engaging a portfolio of
self-sufficiency services for
new possibilities.

CHANGING LIVES
Making a difference in the
lives of people.

They include a new parenting project for individuals on welfare called TIP, a Summer Feeding Program that provided meals to low income children during the summer, Homelessness Prevention Program that helped families avoid homelessness, and another displaced homemaker program serving Hunterdon, Somerset and Mercer County called Career and Life Planning Center.
After two and a half years, NORWESCAP completed the health care projects. The Northwest NJ Community Health Center in Sussex served over 2,165 low income patients for primary and preventative health care.

We also completed construction and the licensing process of the Phillipsburg Community Health Center. The intent of this Center was to improve access to uninsured individuals in the federally designated medically underserved area of Phillipsburg.
At NORWESCAP we focus on helping people change their lives, but we also understand the importance of hope and in the simple belief that change is possible. Please take a moment to download our 2006 Annual Report available in pdf format and review some of the outstanding achievements highlighted during our forty-first year of serving the community. Our annual budget was approximately 22 million dollars in 2006 with an administrative cost under 5%.

As always, we are adding features to improve our website. One feature is to offer a virtual food drive that allows a donor to provide donations of requested food items through the Internet. To learn more about the virtual food drive page, click here or visit the Food Bank program page for additional ideas on how to lend a hand to end hunger. We have also added the NJHelps link to our website that provides screening for 8 governmental programs.

If you are interested in any of the programs the agency offers, click on Apply for a Program to complete an on-line application. If you have any questions, or comments about our website, please contact us at info@norwescap.org.

We continue to believe that change is possible. We look forward to new partnerships and in our continued commitment to our mission. Thank you for visiting us at www.norwescap.org and visit our volunteer page if you are interested in partnering with NORWESCAP to help us meet our mission of, “Fighting Poverty. Creating Opportunities. Changing Lives.”

Sincerely,
